       Our Course is only for those ,who are decided and determined to be employed. Those Women, who want to stand on their own feet by meticulous merit, for their updated office skills.

        Office Management today, requires specific job-related skills and a competency in Business Affairs. Office Managers now, have to perform varied Administration Functions. They are no longer just confined to Secretarial Work. They also play the role of Supervisor, Receptionist, PR worker and Conference Co-ordinator. They may have to assist in travel and ticketing arrangements. This is apart from Business Correspondence Budgetary / Auditing and Cohesive Planning Operations.

       Intensive internship is a hallmark of our Department. Repeated assessment of skills and polishing up of their abilities, is another important facet of our curriculum. Most students are offered placements during their internship or after completion of their course. Infact, this is one field of expertise, where jobs are urgently offered, even when the professional diplomates do not need one!

Subject Details

TYPEWRITING PRACTICAL: The importance of typewriters cannot be overlooked. Typewriters still play a crucial role, despite the arrival of Digital Computers. They provide a foundation for Computer Education. They are more viable, cost effective and climate-friendly machines, that require minimal maintenance. The transition to the Computer Keyboard and Laptop is smooth for Students with, mastery on the typewriter. Students attain minimum speeds of 30 w.p.m. & 40 w.p.m.

TYPEWRITING THEORY: Typewriting Theory deals with the functions, usage and position of the parts of the typewriters. It gives instructions about rhythmic typewriting essential for speed. It imparts essential guidelines and theoretical knowledge on mechanism of the same.

SHORTHAND PRACTICAL: Shorthand is an essential tool and foundation of the secretarial Profession. Pitman’s shorthand of symbols and strokes, enables Students to take down spoken words at ‘vocal speech’ speed. The pen is still more portable and may go where laptops do not. At the end of the Course, Students can take down notes at 60 w.p.m. and 80 w.p.m.

SHORTHAND THEORY: The objective of Shorthand Theory is to explain the positioning and writing of strokes. Rules of Outline Writing, enable students to maintain uniformity. Principles like halving & doubling, vowel placement facilitate rapid writing, reading and transcribing. Mastering these Skills leads to proficiency & Capability.

COMPUTER APPLICATIONS: These Digital Machines have now become a permanent fixture in the Modern Office. The Syllabus imparts knowledge of the relevant Office Operating Systems such as DOS, Windows and package MS Office 2000,which includes: Word, Excel & Power Point.

ACCOUNTANCY AND BOOKKEEPING : Rudimentary knowledge of Book Keeping and Accountancy is part and parcel of office work. For systematic record keeping of the day to day transactions in the office, the Secretary must posses this knowledge. Elementary Accountancy along with Banking, Postal Operations, Fax/Telex and Intercom handling are part of the Curriculum.

ENGLISH: English continues to dominate as the global language of the Business World. Students are trained to express themselves fluently, in Written & Spoken English. Emphasis is laid upon vocabulary, spelling and pronunciation.

SECRETARIAL PRACTICE: Secretarial duties, inter-personal skills, handling of Office Equipment are parts of the Curriculum. Exposure is given in the handling of the latest office machines: like fax, photostat, scanner etc. The Curriculum is updated in accordance with the latest developments.

TRAVEL & TOUR PLANNING: Planning is an important part of the Secretary’s duties. With globalisation of Business Travel, Travel arrangements have assumed great significance. Training is imparted in def t handling of the Itinerary, Hotel Accommodation, Air/Rail Bookings, Local Transfer etc.

OFFICE MANAGEMENT: Skills required for the Management of the Office are taught. These include inter-personal communication, operation of office Machines, devising an efficient filing system, defining & allocation of duties & PeMsonnel management.

BUSINESS CORRESPONDENCE: A major part of a Secretary’s duties in any Establishment is Correspondence. Formats, styles, vocabulary, the adept handling and classification of correspondence are explained. Students become proficient in drafting and transcribing all kinds Official / Business letters.
