          Media is a vital and potent power, in dissemination of news and information.

           A sound knowledge of the principles of communication and the selection of appropriate mediums, has thus become very important, in the global scenario. Our curriculum therefore, had to be devised, to cover all aspects of Media. Our aim is to make student imbibe the most and the best, during her training period.
Students learn details about the regular Print Media, alongwith advanced Electronic Media (including those of / audio-visual, or television / video etc.), with expertise. Exposure is also given in computer presentations and on-line journalism.

         The Department lays a special emphasis upon practical learning. This is by application and usage of Campus Labs, Studios and Outdoor/Outstation visits, apart from class room modules. We have eminent lectures from media professionals.
We are proud to find that our students have got placements, in exclusive channels and dailies. 

         They have also been appointed in multi-media companies apart from making waves, as free-lance journalists.

Subject Details

PRINT MEDIA AND REPORTING: This subject teaches Print Studies with a Media Orientation. The role of Newspapers is explained. Reporting deals with collection and presentation of Events.

PRINT MEDIA: The basics of Print Media are taught. Exercises are given on writing of News, Article Features, and Editorial Reviews. .

PRINT JOURNALISM: Students learn to plan and prepare a Publication. They focus upon a specific theme.

T.V. TECHNIQUES : The subject packages the gamut of TV. The characteristics, grammar and techniques of Programme Production. It includes presentation, interviewing and programming.

T.V. FORMATS : Students learn the basics of Format Techniques. They are introduced to the essentials needed for Drama, Music, Dance Programmes etc. .

TV PRODUCTION : The broadcast processes, transmission planning and control are taught. Emphasis is upon live Programme Production .

SOUND BROADCAST: This subject explains the effectiveness of sound for Mass Communication. It includes News Broadcast, Talks Shows etc. The Students are required to do audio recording for some of them. .

RADIO BROADCAST: Principles, equipment for production and radio bulletin formats are taught. Practical Exercises in Audio Recording and Voice Training are given.

PHOTOGRAPHY: The subject includes parts and processes of the field of lens.

CAMERA TECHNIQUES: Student learn about Camera Equipment and how to use it. Print Production or Film Development is also taught.

VIDEOGRAPHY : Students learn to handle a Video Camera. They learn about parts, functions, angles, movements, lens types and other traits.

VIDEO TECHNIQUES : We teach techniques to enable a Student to do a high class production. These include Light Positions and Set Design details. .

VIDEO EDITING: Each Student edits a Documentary prepared by her. They learn to add narration, voice over, music, captions to their visuals, for effective presentation.

SCRIPT WRITING- TV: We have to teach all the elements of the visual medium i.e words, music and sound effects.

SCRIPT WRITING- RADIO: Students are taught how to think in terms of words. Words are used to create picture in the mind of the listened. A sound grounding is given in the intricate aspects.

SCRIPT WRITING - SPECIALISED PROGRAMMES: Script writing for T.V is a specialised activity. Teaching is thus done with focus.

DOCUMENTARY PRODUCTION: Students learn to make a Documentary on a certain theme. This is their final and most exciting submission.

PROGRAMMING & DOCUMENTARY PRODUCTION: Students decide on a Theme, conduct Research & Survey, collect/compile Information, write a script and finally produce a T.V Programme & a Documentary. .

MEDIA REPORTING : Practical Exercises on Media Reporting are given to the Students.

ADVERTISING & PUBLIC RELATION:Practical exposure in planning, creativity and the effective uses of P.R. tools are given. Stress is upon real- life case studies.
