South Delhi Polytechnic for Women had a Book Release by Mr.Rod Pryde-Culture Minister(South Asian Affairs(U.K.) and Director –British Council. The interesting ceremony took place in the Hall of Books, the Campus Library. The author of the book Harpreet Arora, is Head of Department of Jewellery Design. It is a book on the art of painting flowers with water colours.
(B) R. Chaudhuri As an adjunct to the faculty Art Exhibition at Habitat Centre there was also a book release by Dr. Reyhan Chaudhuri a faculty artist titled A JOURNEY WITHOUT CAMERAS. Mr. Edward Marsden Director British Council very kindly released the book. He was accompanied by his wife Megan, who herself is an artist and a great admirer of the colours and scenic tapestries of India.
This book in a singular sense, is a jovial journey that is juxtaposed onto two jackets. There is an honest hope that the two trunks do not jeopardize the significance of the other. They may certainly joust in jubilation but we trust never truss the between ‘inner richness’ and ‘classic creativity’.
At one level this book may be considered a chronicle of a cross-country Indian Drive. At another stratum, it may be considered a teacher’s telling on a traditional technique of Art.
An Art form that has multifold meditations for the Vocational Student. May the plurality of purpose portrayed in this manner, be enjoyed by both the connoisseur and the novice.
The college hosts numerous literary events. Apart from the visits by English and regional language authors(arranged by the Litt.Cell), critics, editors and book release by Faculty.
